Stepping into 2025, I’ve been reflecting on the content from last year here on digitalbbq. It’s been a year of exploration, learning, and sharing insights, but admittedly, I also hit the pause button for a bit.
I decided to take time off for the “silly season” — a term I used to cringe at whenever I heard it. I had a manager once who, as soon as it hit mid-November, would keep saying, “Oh Ryan, it’s the silly season, mate!” Because, as we all know, everything gets a bit bonkers in the lead-up to Christmas. Deadlines pile up, and things get chaotic. For me, that meant putting posts on hold while I focused on a few other priorities.
So, I took the opportunity to review the past year and figure out how I could improve my content for the year ahead. I found that moving away from purely Revit content was harder than I thought. I ended up down a few rabbit holes of further research to support and expand upon my thesis content, which led to more organisational psychology posts than I initially planned. I promised more food, and while there was some tech, it wasn’t quite the balance I aimed for. But hey, it’s all part of the process, right?
Now, after some reflection, I’ve got a solid plan in place for the year ahead, and I’m really excited about what’s to come.
Last Year in Review
In 2024, my blog focused on a mix of topics that resonated with the audience, with some standout pieces that sparked thoughtful conversations:
- I explored advanced prompting techniques and how AI can enhance workflows, especially in BIM and design automation. These posts sparked discussions on how clear communication can maximise AI’s effectiveness.
- I shared technical insights, such as purging material assets with the Revit API. These guides aimed to solve real-world problems that many of us face trying to achieve modelling perfection.
- I also reflected on advancing gender equality in the AEC industry and fostering inclusive, high-performing teams. These posts were about creating better workplaces and sparked meaningful engagement.
What’s Ahead for 2025
This year, I plan to continue exploring the intersection of BIM, AI, project management, and team building, with a few fresh angles. Here’s a look at what to expect:
- There’s a lot happening in the digital space, and I want to contribute my thoughts on the latest trends.
- Continuing from last year, I’ll wrap up the remainder of the AI tools I shared during my BiLT 2024 session, and I’ll continue to explore how AI and related technologies can be used for design automation and everyday tasks.
- Of course, I’ll continue to squeeze in technical tips for Revit users, focusing on automation, BIM workflows, and troubleshooting common issues.
As always, I’d love to hear from you. Many of the most insightful conversations about the content I share happen out in the real world, whether through one-on-one chats or at industry events. I’d love to bring some of that discussion here—what topics are you most interested in? Are there specific challenges you’re facing in your projects that I can help with?
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or reach out directly. Let’s make 2025 a year of learning and growth together!
